Broads Authority hosts Charter Parks Network launch event 28th Nov 2006

The Broads Authority is hosting the launch event for the Charter Parks Network in the Atlantic Isles just two months after it received the accolade of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.

Representatives from protected areas from Cornwall to the Cairngorms will converge on The Broads on Thursday November 30th and Friday December 1st to view the work the Broads Authority is doing in sustainable tourism and share ideas and common issues. The event is open to the protected areas which hold the European Charter and those interested in working towards it.

The Broads Authority is one of only four protected areas within the Atlantic Isles and the first English National Park Authority to hold the Charter. It is highly regarded as being in the forefront of sustainable tourism internationally.

The Broads Authority is now throwing open the opportunity to local tourism businesses to work towards the Charter by promoting sustainable tourism to their visitors.
On Friday delegates will visit Clippesby Hall, which runs lodges and a touring site, and is the first business in the Broads to be working towards the Charter. Clippesby Hall is already a winner of the David Bellamy Award and is accredited under the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

Businesses interested in working towards the Charter should contact Bruce Hanson, Head of Tourism Development, The Broads Authority, on 01603 610734.
