MP Hopes To Run A New Broads Route One Day 5th May 2008

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb ran the Ludham Mini Marathon in warm sunshine on Sunday, along with over fifty local people. The four and a half mile route took runners past Ludham Primary School and down lanes towards How Hill. Volunteer marshals along the route ensured that passing cars slowed down to allow the runners and walkers of all ages to have a safe route to run.

Part of the charity Fun Run route followed a section of the proposed Three Rivers Way, a new project suggested by people in the Broads villages which aims to provide a safer connecting route between the villages of Potter Heigham, Ludham, Horning and Hoveton. Local people are involved in designing the route for walkers, cyclists and people with mobility problems. It will include multipurpose pathways, quiet lanes and traffic calming. The section from Potter Heigham to Ludham and Horning is currently the subject of a feasibility study by the Planning and Transportation Department of Norfolk County Council.

At a recent local consultation meeting organised by the Three Rivers Way Association, residents heard Norman Lamb support the idea of a safe, pleasant, traffic-free connection between the villages, saying he looked forward to the day when he could join others on a Fun Run along the whole eight mile length of the Three Rivers Way.
