The Academy of St Martin in the Fields makes its third visit to the Harleston
Festival with a programme of wonderful chamber music. Be sure to book early
to secure your seat for a programme featuring Schubert’s String Trio
in B flat major, Mozart’s Duo for Violin and Viola No. 1 in G major and
one of the great masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire, Schubert’s
Quintet in C major.
New work composed and performed by Harleston’s young musicians.
Students from Archbishop Sancroft High, Harleston, Pulham and Brockdish
primary schools have been working with musicians from the Academy of St
Martin in the Fields to create their own work. Don’t miss this opportunity
to hear these exciting new pieces. The concert will feature performances
by Academy of St Martin in the Fields and a host of talented young musicians.
Our programme for the year ends with a series of Sunday afternoon concerts in
three beautiful churches in Bungay, Dickleborough and Stradbroke. In these
picturesque surroundings musicians from the Academy of St Martin in the
Fields will introduce and play a programme of chamber music. There will
be the opportunity to learn something of local interest during a short informal
talk after which members of the audience will be treated to a selection
of tea and cakes. There will also be a chance to talk to the musicians about
their work and the music being played. These informal concerts are a wonderful
way to spend a Sunday afternoon and should appeal to everyone with their easy,
relaxed atmosphere.
Situated in the village of Pulham Market 15 miles South of Norfolk 15
miles south of Norwich, the workshop begins at 10.00am on the Friday and
concludes there on Sunday evening with a performance of works studied.
